Dutch Cyclist Takes Home the Prize
Olav Kooij, a Dutch cyclist from the Jumbo-Visma team, has been crowned the winner of the 2023 ZLM Tour. Kooij secured his victory by winning the final stage of the race, which took place in Oosterhout on Sunday, June 11th.
Sam Welsford of Australia (Team DSM) and Nils Eekhoff of the Netherlands (Team DSM) finished in second and third place respectively, completing the podium. Kooij's victory marks the second time a Dutch cyclist has won the ZLM Tour in the past three years.
The ZLM Tour is a five-day cycling stage race that forms part of the UCI ProSeries. This year's race covered a total distance of 746 kilometers and featured some of the best professional cyclists in the world. Kooij's win is a testament to his exceptional talent and determination.
In a post-race interview, Kooij expressed his delight at winning the ZLM Tour. "This is an incredible feeling," he said. "I've been working towards this for a long time, and it's finally happened. I couldn't have done it without the support of my team and family."
