Political Career of Kamal Nath

Kamal Nath began his political career in 1980 when he was elected to the Lok Sabha (lower house of the Indian Parliament) from the Chhindwara constituency. He has since been re-elected to the Lok Sabha nine times from the same constituency.

Nath has held various ministerial positions in the Government of India, including Minister of State for Environment and Forests, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, and Minister for Urban Development. He has also served as the President of the Indian Youth Congress and the All India Congress Committee.

In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, the INC emerged as the single largest party, winning 114 seats in the 230-member Assembly. Nath was elected as the INC's leader in the Assembly and was sworn in as the Chief Minister on 17th December 2018.
